Here is the solution I came up with through alot of trial and error and about 20 discs later. So I installed the nero 8 and tried to burn the same way I had straight from dvd shrink to dvd and it would burn but wouldn't play in my dvd player. I was able to use the enable nero burn in the dvd shrink and burn right to a disc and it was so much faster that I loved it but my plugins with the oem version had run out and I was unable to get sound encoding after the trial period.

So I figured it would be easier to just get the full ultra edition nero 8 and be done with it. Unfortunately these versions are very limited and don't contain the multichannel plug-ins and then you have to pay more money to get these plugins. Ok first of all I recently installed a new dvd burner that had nero 7 essentials oem version. I don't need the Blu Ray and HD features from Nero 8 yet and Nero 7 appears much more stable at this point. I reloaded Nero 7 until the situation is resolved. As I mentioned before, the Nero Express burns manually without problems. I checked it extensively and that's what keeps showing. So, there's definitely a problem with the Burning ROM in version 8.1.1.0. On one standalone player the DVDs aren't recognized, and on another it takes an excessive amount of time to load and then the DVD goes to a track and starts looping. The problem recorded DVDs play fine on a PC. The Video_TS folder appeared, but the recorded DVD still wouldn't play on a standalone player. Once again there were problems with Shrink and the Burning ROM. I cleaned the system again and installed Nero 8, again, with a fresh download. I cleaned up the system using the general clean tool from Nero, ran a reg cleaner and did all the good housekeeping chores.

With one installation I ran Shrink with Nero and got no Video_TS folder. I tried both the Demo and Trial downloads from the Nero site. The issue with Nero 8 version 8.1.1.0 is with the Burning ROM when used to auto burn with Shrink. So, doing playback checks on the PC doesn't work for this problem.

Every time I use it the discs won't play on a standalone player, but will on the PC. Something is up with the Burning ROM in Nero 8. I tried it different ways and it keeps coming up the same. And the problem is with the Nero Burning ROM.

And who made your Maxell's today? Give us a manufacturer ID on those, if you want to call them good. That eliminates the possibility of incompatible media. Notice he said it works when burning with Nero Express.
